Q: What are some of your favorite aspects of stepping outside of the football arena?
CT: Well, my first favorite is what happens in the second episode. Or maybe it’s the third. They get tangled. But it’s the roller derby, so for several reasons…I was really excited that we were focusing on a female athlete, and then roller derby’s something that I’ve always loved watching. There was this girl I met three or four years ago, and she was an actress who on her off time was this very famous…I think they’re really called the New York Dolls. I’m not even sure. But she was a very famous New York roller derby girl, and she had stories that blew my mind, so that was very exciting to me. They created for the show a roller derby arena, but they did it very beautifully, and they got a real team together. That was (director) Rob Morrow’s episode, and I think also, because he’s an actor, they got a little bit more into that sort of stuff. And the actress that they cast as the girl with the issue was a real tough little cookie, and she was getting really involved in it. So that was fun for me, because I got to go and sort of be in there and meet all these incredible women, these tough women. I think that’s what I’m very excited about in regards to the second season. There will be way more leaving the football stadium. Although, obviously, I love going to the football stadium. [Laughs.] But that just makes it more exciting for me.

Who doesn’t like to keep up with celebrities? Well, lots of people, but this article isn’t for them. There are tens of thousands of mobile apps available across any number of devices, and given the enormous popularity of celebrity news and gossip sources like Entertainment Tonight and TMZ, it is no surprise that there are apps that cater to the legions of dedicated super-fans. Here are just a few of them.
Personal celebrity apps
A lot of celebrities have their own personal mobile apps, which is great, because without them, we would have to rely on TMZ to tell us what Jay-Z is doing on any given day. Chuck Norris, Britney Spears, Samuel L. Jackson, Lady Gaga, will.i.am and many more have personal apps.
With these apps, celebrities keep followers updated and informed on their lives, their interests, their careers and their latest projects. These apps bring fans into the lives of celebrities on a level not matched by gossip sources. Because what better source is there for info on will.i.am’s latest musical project than will.i.am himself? Oh, and speaking of celebrity gossip sources…
Celebrity gossip and news apps
All the biggest celebrity gossip sources have their own apps to keep followers informed. Fans can download the People Celebrity News Tracker or apps from TMZ, Entertainment Tonight, MTV News, E! Online and more to make sure that they never miss a celebrity bad hair day, marriage, break up, arrest or fashion mistake.
Celebrity preferred apps
When celebrities are photographed doing something mundane, gossip magazines sometimes say that they are “just like us.” Well, in terms of what mobile apps they like, this is certainly true. They enjoy many of the same apps that a lot of other people do.
Rachel Ray says her favorite app is the Boggle-like game Quordy, rapper T-Pain plays the game Amateur Surgeon and Neil Patrick Harris likes the storyboard app called Hitchcock. Alec Baldwin’s affinity for Words with Friends got him into trouble when he refused to stop playing the game on an airplane when asked to turn off his electronic device. Lisa Lampanelli uses the Weight Watchers app to keep track of what she eats, and Marlon Wayons likes the iAnnotate application for reading and editing scripts.
Celebrity-relevant apps are great. Unfortunately, everyone’s economic situation is not so great and many can’t afford the latest and best mobile devices. Have no fear, super-fans. The economical choice, prepaid cell phones and prepaid cell phone plans will make sure that the wisdom of David Hasselhoff or news about the latest power-couple break-up is always at your fingertips.
People follow celebrities for a variety of reasons. Some are simply curious; others share their interests. Sometimes celebrity lives seem larger-than-life and that can be amusing. Even using the same apps that celebrities use makes some fans feel closer to the person whose work they enjoy. Whatever the reason, people love to keep track of their favorite celebs, and mobile apps are one of the best ways to do so.
Forbes was inspired by Angelina Jolie to ask the question of whether men are really intimidated by powerful women. This came up as Billy Bob Thornton explained why his marriage to Angelina failed, “I blew it because I didn’t think I was good enough for her.”
I’m not sure how much you can extrapolate her. Just look at the pics above – Angelina Jolie would intimidate most men. But the message is still important. As a man, without confidence you have nothing when it comes to dealing with women, especially women like Angelina.
