Tony Curtis discusses Marilyn Monroe

Here’s a fascinating interview from years ago with Tony Curtis on Larry King’s CNN show. Curtis basically debunks theories from the other guests that Marilyn was murdered, while explaining that she had been troubled for years and had attempted suicide in the past. He also explains that Marilyn, like most actresses of her time, basically had to sleep her way into roles and opportunities. The Hollywood casting couch was a real thing. But he also said that Marilyn held grudges for those years of “getting on her knees” while others (like him) accepted that as how things were. Curtis basically admits that he endured the same treatment.

This interview is a very interesting peak at old Hollywood through the lens of a famous actor who lived through it, and who doesn’t seem shy about explaining how things worked.

Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell cement their footprints

Here’s a great video of classic, Hollywood sex symbols Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell as they cement their footprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater back on June 26, 1953.

Marilyn Monroe in 1962

Here’s a great shot of Marilyn Monroe before her death in 1962. I’ve never seen this photo before but she still looked very lovely here at the age of 36.
